PAR 250S Paramedic III5.00 credit hours
The Paramedic certification course provides information covering emergency and pre-hospital medical care that may be encountered at the scene of accidents and serious illnesses. The course includes competencies for treatment and recognition of all types of diabetic emergencies, head and spinal injuries, CVA’s, TIA’s, blood disorders, renal emergencies, abdominal emergencies, and differential diagnosis of all medical conditions. A complete working knowledge of NIMS, Haz-Mat operations, Heavy Rescue disciplines, and a working knowledge of legal and ethical issues regarding para-medicine. A complete and comprehensive overview of all 3 parts of the Paramedic Program. Successful completion of this course will allow students to register for the National Registry of Paramedic Technicians Exam. A criminal records background check is required prior to admission into the program. Prerequisite: PAR 220S . Lab Fee: $125 Note: As part of the capstone portion of Paramedic III, students will be required to serve as a Team Lead. The Edison State State Paramedic Program has adopted the CAAHEP definition of Team Lead. The Paramedic student must conduct a comprehensive assessment, establish a field impression, determine patient acuity, formulate a treatment plan, direct the treatment, and direct and participate in the transport of the patient to a medical facility, transfer of care to a higher level of medical authority, or termination of care in the field.
