PAR 120S Paramedic I

The Paramedic certification course provides information covering emergency and pre-hospital medical care that may be encountered at the scene of accidents and serious illnesses. The course includes competencies demonstrating the role of the paramedic in the health care system, rapid skill assessment, data interpretation, and management of illnesses/injuries. Instruction includes a thorough working knowledge of the human body, report writing and communications, patient assessment, IV and medication administration, pharmacology, basic and advanced airway adjuncts, and recognition and treatment of respiratory emergencies. An FBI/BCI criminal records background check is required prior to admission into the program. Prerequisite: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and department approval. Recommended: American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification. Prerequisite: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and department approval.
