The Computer Information Systems Certificate is a first step of completion for students who are interested in information technology and want to explore a variety of courses before deciding on a specific degree. All courses in this certificate can be applied to any program degree option. In some cases, one course from this certificate will need to be used as a technical elective within a specific degree. Students should consult with their faculty advisor to ensure their transition into a specific program degree option is smooth.♦
Program Outcomes ►
The student will
- apply positive ethical standards across various situations and industries;
- use effective interpersonal skills to discuss important industry-specific concepts and to interact in diverse team environments;
- demonstrate an ability to build, configure, manage, or troubleshoot common applications, databases, operating systems, programming code, networks, or servers using industry-standard tools and techniques;
- evaluate and analyze problems and apply the tools of logical problem solving;
- demonstrate essential computer skills in areas such as applications, operating systems, or programming; and
- apply analysis and design techniques and project management principles to plan, execute, and complete IT projects and systems within scope, time, and budget constraints.
