The Web Development program provides students with the knowledge to code, build, analyze and maintain websites from a programming and design perspective. Students will learn to develop websites from the front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) to ensure that they understand all aspects of the development process. Students will also explore elements of graphic design, as well as responsive design for mobile devices. This program includes the latest standards of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as various programming languages and concepts for the web. Students will develop a portfolio and compile it with works from numerous courses within the program.♦
Hardware/Software Requirements ►
Students taking courses in this program may need to own or have access to specialty hardware/software to pursue this degree option. This requirement is particularly important for students enrolled in online/distance learning sections of particular courses. Affected courses indicate this requirement in their course syllabus. Consult the program advisor to discuss specific course needs and options.
Program Outcomes ►
The student will
►demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication;
►use effective interpersonal skills and interact in a team environment;
►apply positive ethical standards to diverse media and their use in multiple industries;
►evaluate and analyze problems and advance ideas to surmount those problems;
►describe the formal elements of design and utilize effective design practices to layout, organize and communicate information;
►use appropriate software to design, create and edit compositions for various media;
►demonstrate an understanding of branding and advertising regarding distinct target audiences;
►critique their work and the works of others in constructive and meaningful ways; and
►discuss, develop and curate an electronic portfolio.
