Equipment Service Certificate


The Equipment Maintenance Technology Equipment Service Certificate program develops technicians with the skills and knowledge to service, repair, and maintain various types of equipment and machinery. Students with interest and aptitude in troubleshooting and problem solving will find a broad range of career possibilities awaiting them. These careers build on a prepared background in basic mechanical and electrical systems, safety, customer service, written and oral communications, and working in teams. Once beyond the basics, the students get substantial hands-on experiential training on real equipment and develop troubleshooting and preventative maintenance methodologies.

Program Outcomes ►
The student will

  1. demonstrate proficiency in the servicing and repair of complex industrial/manufacturing equipment;
  2. demonstrate proficiency and a working knowledge of mechanical parts and systems, electrical/electronic parts and systems, hydraulic/pneumatic parts and systems, PLC programming, and network communications systems;
  3. demonstrate problem-solving skills and the application of troubleshooting techniques to complex industrial/manufacturing equipment;
  4. develop familiarity with additional job-critical skills, including safety awareness, machine reliability, preventive maintenance, and computer applications;
  5. explain the uses and effectiveness of the various quality systems;
  6. apply problem-solving tools to industrial supervision problems;
  7. explain how human relations in the workplace are essential for continuous improvement;
  8. develop an ethical model of conduct for workplace relationships;
  9. demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills; and
  10. apply effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
