The Web Development program provides students with the knowledge to code, build, analyze and maintain websites from a programming and design perspective. Students will learn to develop websites from the front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) to ensure that they understand all aspects of the development process. Students will also explore elements of graphic design, as well as responsive design for mobile devices. This program includes the latest standards of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, as well as various programming languages and concepts for the web. Students will develop a portfolio and compile it with works from numerous courses within the program.♦

Hardware/Software Requirements ►
Students taking courses in this program may need to own or have access to specialty hardware/software to pursue this degree option. This requirement is particularly important for students enrolled in online/distance learning sections of particular courses. Affected courses indicate this requirement in their course syllabus. Consult the program advisor to discuss specific course needs and options.

Program Outcomes ►
The student will

  1. apply positive ethical standards across various situations and industries;
  2. use effective interpersonal skills to discuss important industry-specific concepts and to interact in diverse team environments;
  3. communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders through written, oral, and digital means to convey industry-related information;
  4. employ various interactive media to create engaging and cohesive digital content that effectively communicates and enhances brand presence across mutiple platforms;
  5. develop, discuss, and curate an electronic portfolio;
  6. create visually appealing, user-friendly websites by applying current design principles, user experience (UX) strategies, and modern coding langauges; 
  7. design websites that are responsive across multiple devices and platforms, ensuring accessibility standards are met to accommodate users with diverse needs and abilities; and
  8. integrate various web technologies and tools to build dynamic and interactive web applications.
