NUR 114S Professionalism & Trends in Practical Nursing

1.00 credit hours

Prepares the student for the role transition from student to graduate/practicing nurse. Topics include a study of the history and future of nursing; legal, ethical, and political responsibilities and issues; the role of the Board of Nursing; nursing organizations; and job seeking skills. Strategies for coping with conflict and stress as a new graduate will be explored. Roles and responsibilities of the practical nurse are discussed. Students will prepare for the licensing exam by completing the required paperwork and taking a practice examination. Prerequisite: Department acceptance into the nursing program is required. Prerequisite or Co-requisite: BIO 242S , NUR 110S , and NUR 112S  with a grade of “C” of better.
