Part-Time Map

Career Outlook

Transfer Agreements

The Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology program prepares students for the design, interface, installation and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical systems, as well as the skills to integrate electronics and electrical controls with mechanical systems, in order to explore alternatives through the process of troubleshooting and problem-solving. The program begins with foundational electrical and mechanical design classes and provides flexibility, allowing students to choose a variety of electrical, mechanical and other related technical courses. Students then can choose to specialize in areas such as automation, electronics, machine design or 3D modeling and can choose related electives to either deepen their specialization or choose additional topic areas such as manufacturing; heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration or alternative energy systems.

Some possible careers include ►
electro-mechanical technicians, industrial controls technicians and engineers, electronics installation and repair specialists, automation specialists, maintenance systems technicians, PLC programmers, robotics technicians, applications engineers, mechanical designers and HVAC/R technicians

Program Outcomes ►
The student will

  1. demonstrate proficiency with electrical components and systems;
  2. demonstrate proficiency with mechanical components and systems;
  3. demonstrate basic competence in mechanical engineering design and analysis using applications of mathematics and engineering mechanics;
  4. demonstrate basic competence in electrical engineering design and analysis using applications of mathematics and circuit analysis;
  5. demonstrate problem solving skills and troubleshooting techniques;
  6. demonstrate written and oral communication skills;
  7. demonstrate application of accepted industry safety practices;
  8. explain ethical considerations involved in electrical and mechanical engineering; and
  9. apply effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
