Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Academic Programs | A to Z

The Paralegal Studies Post-Baccalaureate Certificate provides students who already have a bachelor’s degree to switch gears and quickly gain employment as a paralegal. Students will focus on completing legal specialty courses covering five areas of law practiced in this part of Ohio, which are probate, litigation, real estate, domestic and business. This program also provides essential courses in keyboarding, Word and business writing. These courses will provide students with the case research and document drafting skills necessary to effectively support the work of attorneys. Students wishing to transfer legal specialty courses to Edison State, should review the Legal Credit Transfer Policy NOTE Although paralegals assume many preparatory and drafting tasks essential to the practice of law and work under the supervision of an attorney, they are strictly prohibited from carrying out the duties considered to be the practice of law including setting legal fees, accepting cases, giving legal advice and presenting cases in court.
