The Accounting program prepares students for compiling and analyzing business transactions and preparing financial reports, such as financial statements, cost studies and tax reports, to name a few. As a career degree, the Accounting curriculum delivers skills for today’s workplace and enhanced transferability.♦ NOTE The courses listed reflect the minimum requirements for the Associate of Business degree. Following the requirements will ensure that all degree and transfer requirements will be met. Additional courses, or courses with higher credit value, may be taken in order to meet the requirements of the major at the transfer institution.

accountant, accounting clerk, accounting manager, audit clerk, audit clerk supervisor, bank officer, bookkeeper, budget officer, collection worker, comptroller, credit manager, insurance clerk, loan officer reconciliation clerk, revenue agent statistical clerk, tax collector and underwriter

The student will
- demonstrate skills in written and oral communication;
- use effective interpersonal skills and interact in a team environment;
- demonstrate awareness of global world/economic/business issues;
- recognize the value of good ethical standards and their application to business and accounting;
- demonstrate respect for cultural differences and differing points of view in the business environment;
- demonstrate proficiency with business technology for both research and communication of accounting information;
- identify the important components of the external environment of a business and explain how the environment influences change; and
- apply the principles of financial, managerial and tax accounting.
