Phlebotomy Short-Term Technical Certificate

The Phlebotomy Short-Term Technical Certificate is for students wishing to pursue a career working with patients in a health care setting. Phlebotomists are trained to collect blood and other biological samples using a variety of equipment and techniques and work directly with patients to obtain samples for analysis. Students will gain other valuable skills necessary for success in the field, including computer usage, medical terminology and laboratory procedures. Students in this program should possess good communication skills, patience, teamwork, attention to detail and the manual dexterity required to perform the essential duties of this delicate job. Students will demonstrate and perfect these competencies during an internship experience, which caps off this certificate-granting program.

Phlebotomy Certificate Applicants ►
In addition to complying with the College’s general admission procedures, Phlebotomy applicants must
►place into college level English or successfully complete Developmental Reading and Writing course;
►have a cumulative 2.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale);
►achieve a minimum grade of “C” or better in program required courses to complete certificate; and
►have approval from the Phlebotomy Coordinator Hannah Shirk who can be contacted via email here.
Students are required to have a successful background check and complete all necessary health forms prior to taking Phlebotomy & Laboratory Techniques .
NOTE Federal Financial Aid is not available for Short-Term Technical Certificate programs, but scholarship assistance may be available.
NOTE Students pursuing a Short-Term Technical Certificate may need to satisfy course prerequisites which may include placement testing.
