Automation and Robotics | A.A.S.

Part-Time Map

Career Outlook

Transfer Agreements

The Automation and Robotics program prepares students for design, interface, installation and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems. Emphasis is on electronics, electrical controls, motors, programmable logic controllers, servo systems, robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics and mechanical systems. Students will integrate electronics and electrical controls with mechanical systems and programmable controllers and explore alternative trade-offs in the process of problem-solving and troubleshooting.

Some possible careers include ►
industrial controls technicians and engineers, electronics installation and repair specialists, automation specialists, maintenance systems technicians, PLC programmers, robotics technicians and applications engineers

Program Outcomes ►
The student will

  1. demonstrate proficiency with electrical and electronic components and circuits;
  2. demonstrate applications of electronics and electrical components to industrial controls design;
  3. develop controls design techniques using the latest technology;
  4. demonstrate application of accepted industry safety practices;
  5. demonstrate problem-solving skills and troubleshooting techniques in electrical controls;
  6. demonstrate written and oral communication skills;
  7. explain ethical considerations involved in controls design; and
  8. apply effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
