MED 290L Medical Coder Internship

2.00 credit hours

Provides the student with first-hand experience in a health care reimbursement setting. Students will demonstrate the use of skills learned in previous coursework and apply those skills in a physician’s office or other reimbursement setting. The course consists of 240 hours of time at the intern site for observation and practice of administrative and billing techniques. Prerequisite: MED 230S, MED 233S, MED 234S with grades of C or better, or by departmental permission. Co-requisite: MED 290R. Lab Fee: $20
