PAR 120S Paramedic I 12.00 credit hours
The Paramedic certification course provides information covering emergency and pre-hospital medical care that may be encountered at the scene of accidents and serious illnesses. This course includes competencies demonstrating the role of the paramedic in the health care system, rapid skill assessment, data interpretation, and management of illnesses/injuries. Instruction includes a thorough working knowledge of the human body, report writing and communications, patient assessment, IV and medication administration, and pharmacology. Treatment and stabilization procedures include basic and advanced airway adjuncts, and the recognition and treatment of respiratory and cardiac emergencies. An FBI/BCI criminal records background check is required prior to admission into the program. Prerequisite: BIO 124S , Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, and department approval. Recommended: American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification. Lab Fee: $438.25 (Additional fees will apply for online, flex and webflex sections.) FALL | SPRING
