SSV 111S Introduction to Social Work

3.00 credit hours

Comprehensive and realistic survey of the diverse, dynamic Social Work profession. Student will be introduced to the historical development of social work, social welfare theory, social service delivery systems, generalist practice, populations served, career opportunities, and ethical standards of the profession. Special emphasis on the attitudes, values, and skills needed by the effective social service employee. Student will examine personal values and commitment to the career field of social work.
