Industrial Management, Industrial Operations Options, A.A.S.

Students who choose the Industrial Operations option learn the fundamentals of operations management, industrial health and safety, quality management systems, supervision, human relations, and problem solving. Advanced courses in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma provide the student with the latest in operations and quality programs. This program option culminates in a project during which the students demonstrate their breadth of industrial operations knowledge. Students may seek lean manufacturing certification or a Six Sigma green belt with projects conducted at local manufacturing facilities.

Program Outcomes

The student will:

  1. Demonstrate a basic knowledge of industrial operations;
  2. Demonstrate a basic understanding of industrial operations management;
  3. Explain the uses and effectiveness of the various quality systems;
  4. Apply problem solving tools to industrial operations problems;
  5. Explain how human relations in the workplace are essential for continuous improvement ;
  6. Develop an ethical model of conduct for workplace relationships;
  7. Explain cost considerations inherent in industrial operations;
  8. Explain the cost savings potential of lean manufacturing and six sigma programs;
  9. Demonstrate effective written and oral communications skills;
  10. Apply effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
