Choose Ohio First

Nursing, LPN/ADN Transition Option, A.A.S.

Requirements for admission to the LPN/ADN Transition program include completion of all prerequisites listed, Ohio licensure as an LPN, completion of a basic LPN transition course NUR 190S LPN to RN Transition  or its equivalent from another college. The NUR courses are sequential and require four consecutive semesters to complete. Students also need NET 100S Introduction to the Internet  or XLN 100S Introduction to Online Learning  to meet the college-wide online preparedness requirement. Continuation in and graduation from the nursing program is contingent upon the student earning a grade of at least "C" in nursing, anatomy, physiology and microbiology courses.

LPN/ADN Transition Program Applicants

In addition to complying with the College's general admission procedures, LPNs applying for the Transition program must:

  1. Satisfactory completion of CIT 100S Introduction to Computers  or CIT 100S proficiency exam.
  2. Have successfully completed one year of high school chemistry. Applicants may take CHM 110S Introduction to Chemistry  as an equivalent course.
  3. Have satisfactory math assessment score and three years of college preparatory mathematics, or a grade of "C" or better in MTH 099D Intermediate Algebra II  .
  4. Have satisfactory assessment scores in reading and writing to be ready to take ENG 121S Composition I  or successfully complete ENG 091D Basic Writing  and ENG 093D College Preparatory Reading .
  5. Have official transcript from LPN program sent directly to Enrollment Services.
  6. Have successfully completed prerequisite courses as follows: BIO 125S Anatomy & Physiology I  with a grade of "C" or better; PSY 121S Introduction to Psychology , ENG 121S Composition I , and CHM 111S Basic Chemistry of Life Processes . (Note: High school chemistry or CHM 110S Introduction to Chemistry  is prerequisite for BIO 125S Anatomy & Physiology I ).
  7. Overall GPA of 2.5 for previous college work.

Space available will determine the number of qualified LPNs to be admitted in any one year. Information is available in the Nursing Office. Students must complete all above application requirements prior to the start of the first nursing course. Those selected for the program are required to have a physical and medical health form completed by a physician, a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer card, a successful background check, a successful drug screen and proof of health insurance.
