Industrial Management

Today change is rapid and pervasive. Every industry and every organization is experiencing change. Those organizations that recognize and embrace change give themselves the opportunity to thrive. Those that don't, seriously challenge their own viability.

The Industrial Management (IMT) program is all about the change that industrial organizations face daily. It is designed to produce supervisors and managers with a problem solving and quality mindset that is essential for survival in today's changing industrial environment. Students are prepared with a broad background in industrial operations, quality systems, statistics, management techniques, human relations, and written and oral communications.

There are two specialty majors in Industrial Management Technology-Industrial Operations and Operations Technology. Graduates in these majors work as managers, supervisors or team leaders in inventory control, manufacturing, material handling, materials resource planning, operations, quality, purchasing, transportation, and warehousing.

As a career degree, the curricula are based on job skills rather than transferability. However, many colleges and universities in Ohio and across the nation accept these majors. Certain universities now offer Bachelor's degrees on the Edison State campus. Students interested in transfer should work closely with their advisor to plan their curriculum appropriately.
