Those wishing to make a contribution to the healthcare field by helping physicians accurately diagnose and treat patients by providing test results may be interested in the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), also known as Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT), degree. Through this option, students learn the skills needed to obtain, process, test and evaluate various biological samples taken from patients, including blood and other body fluids. In addition, students will become familiar with the use and maintenance of equipment used in a clinical laboratory. Intensive coursework will be completed on campus, while hands-on practice will take place at participating clinical sites. Individuals trained in this specialty are currently in high demand. Typical characteristics of professionals include being precise, analytical, professional and ethical.
