ECE 221S Family and Community Relations

3.00 credit hours

Overview of the need for teacher communication with parents and parent involvement strategies in programs for young children. Includes the ecology of the child, diverse family characteristics, parent-teacher conferences, and formal and informal communication strategies that focus on building collaborative partnerships. Also includes teacher advocacy, the role of the family and community in the child's development and learning and community agencies that support diverse family needs. Recommended: ECE 115S . Participation in service learning is required. Lab Fee: $21
