25+ Fast Track Program

Are you a prospective learner 25-years of age or older, interested in completing a degree in as short of time as possible?  If so, a 25+ Fast Track program may be the pathway for you.

With support from the Finish for Your Future Grant, Edison State Community College will launch its 25+ Fast Track Program in Fall 2020. The program will offer students who are 25-years of age and older and have not previously attended Edison State a $250 “first-dollar” scholarship if they enroll at the College in the Fall 2020 semester. To promote faster completion of a degree or certificate for these students, the following programs will be offered in 4-week and 8-week sessions, utilizing online and hybrid instructional models. These programs are directly aligned with real jobs in the local workforce and are designed to be completed in 4 semesters or 16 months.

Program Model ►
The Edison State 25+ Fast Track programs of study follow a cohort model with predetermined course scheduling. This means that students must commit to full-time enrollment, joining a group of students who will start the program at the same time and will progress and complete the courses together as a defined group. All courses for each term and throughout the program are scheduled as a block of specific classes that students must take. The courses are conducted online with some in-person sessions needed for learning and practicing hands-on skills. The course schedule is compressed into 4-week and 8-week sessions in order to accelerate students’ completion of the program. Each 25+ Track program takes one year, plus a half or a full semester to complete, assuming no developmental coursework is needed. Classes begin in late August of each year and would end in December of the following year.

Program Characteristics ►
The cohort model promotes peer interaction and networking. Students work collaboratively with each other in a team-oriented environment. All programs of study are tailored specifically for working adults who need the flexibility of studying online from home, the right amount of in-person guidance to learn hands-on skills, and the advantage of shorter time to completion. Each 25+ Fast Track student will be assigned one Career Pathways advisor and one faculty advisor, who will provide the support needed to keep the student on a path toward earning a degree or certificate. Lastly, the program will offer the opportunity for students to count their prior learning experiences as credits toward their degree or certificate. For more information on this option, students should visit fastpathohio.com
